Keep the Glass You Have

Scratched Doesn't
Have to Mean Replaced.

A scratched windshield, storefront pane, or shower door is not automatically a replacement job. Most of the damage people assume is permanent sits in the very top layer of the glass — wiper blades that wore down to the metal, a razor blade used to scrape off a sticker, construction grit dragged across a window during a cleanup. That kind of damage polishes out.

Removing it means the original factory glass stays in place. Nothing gets cut out, no seal is broken, no trim is disturbed, and on a vehicle there is no ADAS camera to recalibrate afterward. You keep the glass that came with the car or the building.

  • Auto, residential, and commercial glass — all three
  • Original pane stays in place; no seal broken, no trim disturbed
  • No ADAS recalibration required, because no glass is removed
  • Optical clarity restored across the whole affected area, not just the groove

The Honest Part

Some Scratches
Can't Be Saved.

Not every scratch comes out, and Todd will tell you that before he takes the job rather than after. Damage that has cut down into the glass cannot be polished away without removing enough material to bend the light passing through it — and a windshield that distorts your view is worse than one with a scratch in it.

There is a rough test you can run yourself before you even call: drag a fingernail across the scratch. If your nail glides over it, it is usually a good candidate. If your nail catches in the groove, it may be too deep. Send a photo either way and you will get a straight answer, not a booking.

What We Restore

Every Kind of Glass,
All Mobile

Windshield Scratches

Wiper-blade scoring and light surface scratches polished out of the driver's sightline — no glass removed, no recalibration needed.

Side & Rear Auto Glass

Door glass, quarter glass, and rear windows. Common after an automatic car wash with worn brushes or grit in the track.

Home Windows

Residential window panes scratched during construction cleanup, painting, or by a razor blade used to remove stickers and overspray.

Shower Doors & Tabletops

Glass shower enclosures and tabletops where cleaning grit or hard-water scale removal has left visible surface scratching.

Storefront & Office Glass

Commercial storefront panes and office partitions. Scratched glass reads as neglect to every customer who walks past it.

Honest Assessment

Every job starts with Todd looking at the actual glass. If polishing won't finish cleanly, he says so before any work begins.

30 Years of Glass.
He Knows What Comes Out.

Todd Jones has worked in auto glass for over 30 years as the owner of SuperGlass franchise #366, established in 1991. Three decades of looking at damaged glass is what makes the assessment worth something — he can tell you what will polish out and what won't before a tool touches the pane.

That judgment is the actual service. Anyone can put a polishing wheel on a windshield. Knowing when not to is what keeps you from ending up with a distorted patch in your line of sight that no one can undo.

"I'd rather tell somebody their scratch isn't coming out than hand them back a windshield that bends the light. You can't put the glass back once you've taken it off."

Common Questions

Scratch Removal FAQ —
Charlotte, NC

No, and anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't looked at the glass yet. Surface scratches sitting in the top layer polish out well. Deep gouges that have cut into the glass generally cannot be removed without leaving visible distortion. A rough guide you can run yourself: drag a fingernail across the scratch. If your nail glides over it, it is usually a good candidate. If your nail catches in the groove, it may be too deep. Send us a photo and we will give you an honest answer before you book anything.
When the scratch is removable, yes. Polishing keeps the original factory glass in the vehicle or the frame, which means no seal is broken, no trim is disturbed, and no ADAS camera needs recalibration afterward. Replacement is the right call when the damage is too deep to polish or when the glass has structural damage such as a crack. We will tell you which situation you are in before starting.
All three. Auto glass, residential glass such as windows, shower doors, and glass tabletops, and commercial glass including storefront panes and office partitions. Residential and commercial panes are frequently scratched during construction cleanup, by a razor blade used to scrape paint or stickers, or by cleaning grit dragged across the surface. Those are exactly the surface scratches that polish out best.
It depends entirely on the size and depth of the affected area rather than on the number of scratches. A small isolated scratch is usually a same-visit job. A large panel, a heavily scratched storefront pane, or a windshield with damage spread across the driver's sightline takes considerably longer, because the surrounding glass has to be blended so the repaired area does not stand out. Todd gives you a realistic time estimate once he has seen the glass.
Not when the work is done properly and the scratch was a suitable candidate. Distortion happens when too much material is removed from one small spot instead of blending the polish across a wider area. That is the single most common failure in glass polishing and it is the reason Todd turns down scratches he does not believe will finish cleanly. He would rather tell you no than hand back a windshield that bends light in your line of sight.
